Hundreds of friends and family members attended the third annual Richard Forenza Memorial Fundraiser at Mulcahy's Pub in Wantagh on Jan. 28.

Greg Young, among others, helped sell raffle tickets while two live bands played music, including the Nassau County Firefighters Pipes and Drums.

All of the money collected will be used to help purchase much-needed medical equipment for burn victims at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, as well as sponsor camps such as the Children's Burn Center Camp in Connecticut.

Forenza died on Nov. 9, 2009, after suffering server burns following an accident on the Long Island Expressway. "Rich was truly a 'Gentle Giant' with a huge heart and personality," states the Richard Forenza Memorial Fund website.

Forenza was also a former volunteer firefighter in the Westbury Fire Department in hose company two.
