Following a 40-year hiatus, Frippery, a popular boutique with a style of its own, has returned to Long Beach. Long-time residents will remember Soni Harris' shop as a "go-to" place for teens and women of all ages. This gem of a store offered, and now does again, an eclectic array of affordable fashions, gifts and accessories.

Soni's daughter, Heidi Harris-Weitz, has teamed up with her life-long friend, Judy Storm, to re-open this landmark. The duo had been business partners at the children's clothing store, Sam and Rye. Heidi is also a real estate associate. Antique displays and vintage chandeliers and candelabras, many of which were from the original store, decorate the new Frippery.

Fans of Italian-made PONO by Joan Goodman jewelry will now be able to choose from an amazing collection of beautiful pieces. Collectors of vintage Bakelite jewelry will be thrilled to explore Frippery's extensive selection. From freshwater pearls to tunics and toe rings, there is no telling what Frippery will show.

Jewelry galore, hair accessories, bags, belts, leggings, key chains, watches and scarves are part of their repertoire. Summer finds include beach bags, flip flops, sunglasses, beach cover-ups, hats, headbands and visors. Custom tees and sweats can be ordered for parties or special occasions.

Frivolous accessories are at their best. This is a place to find that highly unusual gift. Merchandise is sold at prices everyone can afford. Teens can purchase an item for several dollars. Collectors can find things for several hundred. New pieces are brought in every week, keeping the inventory fresh and exciting.

Literally a hidden jewel, Frippery can be a challenge to find, so just count three doors from Baskin Robbins. Summer hours are Tuesday noon to 5 p.m.; Wednesday noon to 7 p.m.; Thursday and Friday noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. They are closed on Monday.
