On March 2, a team from South Side Middle School attended the Scrabble tournament at Hanc Academy in Uniondale. Competition among the 16 teams was intense and throughout the tournament positions for the top seeds continually changed. South Side’s Team Four, comprised of the Cushmore sisters, Blaze and Georgianne, pulled the biggest upset, winning its last four games in close fashion. The result was a third place victory.
On March 25 South Side Middle School will be the proud host of the 5th Annual Scrabble Challenge. Teams from Bay Shore, Roslyn Heights and Hanc Academy are set to join the school’s scrabblers for five competitive rounds in an all day school event.
