Gotham Avenue School students paid homage to the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at an assembly featuring musical performances related to the civil rights activist’s lifelong endeavors.

Children in each grade sang songs centered on themes of peace and equality, which began with kindergarten students performing “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing.” During the assembly, Gotham Avenue Principal Marshall Zucker offered insight on how Dr. King captured the imagination of the world, describing him as “the greatest champion of freedom and equality.”

“Every student participates in our Martin Luther King Jr. assembly,” Zucker said. “This is in keeping with Dr. King’s belief that everyone should be an active participant.”
