Centennial Celebration

Nunley’s Carousel 1912 Festival
The historic Nunley’s Carousel, now in its permanent home on Garden City’s Museum Row, is honored with a grand party as it celebrates 100 years. The Cradle of Aviation Museum hosts this special festival, set in1912, with midway games typical of a visit to Coney Island’s boardwalk at the time, old fashioned children’s games (such as hoops & sticks, sack races and croquet), music by a barbershop quartet, along with foods for sale reminiscent of amusement park cuisine of that time. And, of course, plenty of carousel rides. Joining the festivities is ex-President Theodore Roosevelt, portrayed by actor James Foote, who was running for President once again as the candidate of the Bull Moose Party in 1912.
Saturday and Sunday, June 9-10, noon-6 p.m. $5, includes a ride on Nunley’s Carousel. Cradle of Aviation Museum, Museum Row, Garden City. (516) 572-4066 or www.cradleofaviation.org.

On Stage

The Producers
Plaza Theatrical Productions brings the best of Broadway to Bellmore with its staging of the outrageous award-winning comedy, “The Producers.” Winner of 12 Tony Awards, the production retains all of its delightful zaniness, as Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, two would-be theatrical moguls turned con men, sing and dance their way through the greatest show biz scam in theater history.
Sunday, June 10, 2 p.m. $25, $15 seniors and students. The Show Place at the Bellmore Movies, 222 Pettit Ave., Bellmore. (516) 599-6870 or
