The Green Acres Senior Center is one of several cooling centers open by Nassau County with high temperatures expected to be in the 90s for the remainder of this week. The senior center, located at 400 Flower Road in South Valley Stream, will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day through Saturday, June 23.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Long Island.

“The combination of heat and humidity can become unbearable and dangerous for many of our residents, and the county is doing all it can to provide some relief,” said County Executive Mangano. “I encourage everyone to take precautions to stay as cool as possible.”
