Rockville Centre resident Jeffrey Greenfield has been reappointed chairman of the Nassau County Planning Commission. Greenfield's new term, his third on the commission, will expire on Dec. 31, 2010.

Greenfield has been on the commission, a nine-member board, since February 2002, former County Executive Tom Suozzi's first appointee. Two new commissioners, Robert Young and Jean Marie Posner, were also appointed.

"I appreciate the confidence that my fellow commissioners put in me," Greenfield said of his leadership role, "and I'm proud of our last few years of accomplishments with respect to the charter changes and codification of our rules and regulations. I look forward to the challenges ahead."

During the upcoming year, Greenfield said he expects to complete work on the update of the county's master plan. He explained that Nassau County's charter requires its planning commission to update the master plan, setting goals and objectives of land use in the county every five years.
