Hal Linden’s ‘I’m Old Fashioned’
Hal Linden, his “Barney Miller” days long behind him, brings his nationally touring variety show, “I’m Old Fashioned,” to Long Island on Saturday. Linden’s one-man performance features a diverse range of music, from Broadway show-stoppers to Benny Goodman jazz favorites, with some intertwining anecdotes to add a little spice.

The Nutcracker

New York Dance Theatre
New York Dance Theatre’s version of the holiday classic, its 30th anniversary production, follows in the tradition of the legendary George Balanchine, with guest artists from Dance Theatre of Harlem, among other troupes. This year’s featured soloists include former New York City Ballet soloist Robert Maiorano, who portrays the mysterious Herr Drosselmeyer. In all, a cast of 80 children, semi-professional and professional dancers bring the ballet to life.

Eglevsky Ballet
Another version of the seasonal delight is presented by Long Island’s professional dance company, the Eglevsky Ballet. The production has been reinterpreted by emerging choreographer Laszlo Berdo, formerly of the Boston Ballet. The company’s 24 dancers are joined by returning guest artists Lia Cirio and James Whiteside, principal dancers with the Boston Ballet, who dance the roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Cavalier. The cast includes 61 area dance students.
