As the East Meadow United Methodist Church choir sang a rendition of “He Loves Me,” congregants from different churches and synagogues across East Meadow joined together for the 36th annual Interfaith Thanksgiving service on Nov. 19.
The annual service aims to bring community members together through faith regardless of one’s gender, age, ethnicity or race. This year, the East Meadow United Methodist Church hosted the service as the Rev. Dorett Johnson-Agu led congregants in prayer, while Rabbi Daniel Bar-Nahum of Temple Emanu-El delivered the homily. Members of the Community Reform Temple, Temple Emanu-El of East Meadow, St. Francis Polish National Church, East Meadow Jewish Center and St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church led prayers from their respective faiths.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, congregants donated canned goods, which were later handed out to families in need throughout the community.
