Head-on collision in East Rockaway

A sedan, traveling southbound on Waverly Avenue, and an SUV, going eastbound on Main Street, collided head on at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7. 

East Rockaway Fire Chief Peter Chojnacki requested mutual aid ambulance from Lynbrook to the scene. Three people involved were transported to the hospital: one 36-year-old woman was brought to South Nassau Communities Hospital with left shoulder pain and neurological deterioration and mouth bleeding. A trauma team was requested.

A second female, 16, was transported to Franklin General Hospital complaining of bilateral knee pain. A third female, also 16, was transported to South Nassau complaining of head pain, and no other obvious injuries. No one was trapped in either of the two vehicles.
