In the three seasons since the Hewlett High School re-launched its wrestling program, the Bulldogs have made tremendous strides. Hewlett's quick progress on the mat culminated this season with the Bulldogs posting seven dual-meet victories with eight All Conference wrestlers.

Led by head coach Mike Jimenez and assistant coach Owen Dugan, Hewlett has improved from not winning any dual matches its first season in 2007/08, to three wins last year, and setting a school record with seven victories this season. The Bulldogs posted wins over Roslyn, Great Neck South, Valley Stream Central, Wheatley, Plainview JFK, West Hempstead and the Lindenhurst varsity B team.

In the conference championships, Hewlett had eight wrestlers finish in the top six and become All-Conference

varsity wrestlers. Those placing in the conference championships were Simon Turkin (second place), Fabian Kordonovriz (third place), Jordan Browdy, Jake Marshel and Ofir Yakabowicz (fourth place), Rob Rosenberg (fifth place) and Troy Smith and Habner Sanchez (sixth place). Also competing with intensity were Aaron Weinberg, Simon Greebel, Michael Piri, Matt Applebaum, Justin Ciraolo, Sebastian Herrera.

The conference opponents included all state-ranked teams Wantagh, Bellmore-Kennedy and Farmingdale. Also competing were Bethpage, Clarke and Great Neck South.
