Livleen Kaur Kahlon of Teaneck, New Jersey was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident in Island Park on July 15. Police are still looking for the driver, while friends and family are trying to help cover her medical bills.

Kahlon was visiting friends in Long Beach. The 31-year-old woman fell off her bicycle into the right hand lane while she was making a right turn toward the Long Beach Bridge at the intersection of Railroad Place and Long Beach Road. She was run over by a car that kept going, police said. The accident occurred at 2:23 a.m.

She suffered 10 fractured ribs, a lacerated liver and contusions to one lung. Kahlon was released from Intensive Care on July 26, and is now home.

According to family Kahlon is the single mother of a three year old daughter. She started a new job, but her health insurance did not start until August first leaving her with large medical bills.
