Holiday cheers: High school squad featured on TV

While for most people holiday spirit begins with the start of winter and ends with the start of a new year, for West Hempstead High School cheerleaders it’s spirit — be it holiday or school spirit — year round.

The Girls’ Varsity Cheerleaders showed off their school spirit last Tuesday on MSG Varsity’s “The Cheering Life.” Along with three other high school cheerleading squads, the Rams were featured during a 30-minute episode during which they performed their half-time routine and took viewers behind-the-scenes for a look at the journey from the initial choreography to the final finished product.

The Dec. 21 Cheering Life episode also gave viewers a glimpse into the life of a West Hempstead High School cheerleader and showcased the squad’s coach, Rosemary Zuluaga.
