Holiday sanitation schedule

Posted

Residents are reminded that the Village of Rockville Centre will be following a holiday sanitation schedule for the next two weeks, during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday period.

Normal Monday – Thursday pick-ups will be on Monday and Wednesday for the next two weeks and normal Tuesday – Friday pick-ups will be on Tuesday and Thursday.

All items for collection must be placed on the curbstrip by 7:30 a.m. on collection days. Residents who miss a pick-up for any reason, should return their trash cans to the rear of their homes and wait for the next scheduled collection day.

The village asks that residents please save all recyclable paper and cardboard packaging items for the next pick-up on Jan. 6. Paper and cardboard make up a large portion of the trash stream and recycling saves the village and its taxpayers a significant amount of money.

The Sanitation Department will pick up discarded Christmas trees from the curbside Jan. 4 through Jan. 29 according to the following schedule:

Mondays – South of Sunrise Highway; Tuesdays – North of Sunrise Highway and east of Long Beach Road; Wednesdays – North of Sunrise Highway, west of Long Beach Road, east of Hempstead Avenue; Thursdays – North of Sunrise Highway and west of Hempstead Avenue

All village offices will be closed on

Christmas Day, Dec. 25 and on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.
