Holocaust film returns to area theaters

Posted

“Walking With the Enemy,” a World War II drama that was released in 2014, about Hungarian heroics in the face of Germany’s attempted eradication of its Jewish population, is being re-released to local theaters, Dec. 4 through 17.

The film — based on the real-life deeds of Pinchas Rosenbaum, a Hungarian rabbi’s son who was able to save Jews from the Nazis and their collaborators by disguising himself in enemy garb — focuses on a little-known aspect of Holocaust history. This compelling film of hope and faith stars Ben Kingsley as the controversial leader of Hungary who struggles to preserve his country’s sovereignty from Nazi rule.

It is being shown at the Bellmore Playhouse and Glen Cove Cinemas, Dec. 4 to 10; also at the Farmingdale Multiplex Cinemas, Dec. 11 to 17.
