Hundreds go egg hunting in Long Beach

More than 500 children, ages three to nine, carried baskets and collected colorful eggs filled with tasty treats that were strewn across the turf field at the Long Beach Recreation Center’s 49th annual Egg hunt on March 27.

The hunt was held under blues skies at the George B. Costigan Fields with parents, grandparents and friends cheering the children on as they took to the fields to find pastel eggs filled with jelly beans. Also scattered on the field were prize winning eggs that yielded a bunny or a chick. Hunters who found those eggs received Easter baskets filled with candy and gifts. Other eggs had stuffed lambs, dogs and rabbits. And the Easter Bunny was on hand to give kids hugs and smile for the cameras with them.

The winners in the age three and under category are: Christian Morelli, Mia Vernon and Giovanni Panicola. The four-year old winners are Jacob Spalter, Aran Corbett, Marissa Werner and James Walpole. Five-year-old winners include Layla Radin, Patrick Mechow, Evelyn Regan, Jacob Gratn, Chloe Casey and John Reed. The six-year old winners are Hunter Honan, Peter Navarette, Ona Howie and Alias Richter. The seven-year old hunter-winners are Cole Goldstein, Matthew Schuria, Audrey Covine and Christian Delprete. Eight- and nine-year-old winners include Emily Hogarth, Doug Butler, Alexi Lopez and Delilah Plunkett.
