In a ceremony worthy of this solemn honor, 76 new members were inducted into the Lynbrook Chapter of the National Honor Society.

These sophomores and juniors were chosen based on their ability to meet the society’s standards with regard to scholarship, leadership, character and service. They will join their fellow members in upholding these principles by contributing their time and talents to better their school and local community through volunteer activities, civic involvement and adherence to the highest standards of morality and ethics.

Principal Joseph Rainis noted that although the school had raised academic standards for admission to the honor society, a full 22 percent of the student body qualified, with an academic average of 90 percent or above.

A candle-lighting ceremony, officiated by advisor Leonard Bruno, highlighted the ideals of the National Honor Society. New members were inducted and current members were recognized for their continued service as leaders of their community. NHS officers, Daniel Kramer, Amy Regenstein, Ankush Mohile and Raquel Kallas presided over the convocation of new members. Those in attendance gathered at the end of the evening for a celebratory reception.
