An Island Park man was caught stealing from Jordan Lobster Farms, police report.

According to detectives, Alec R. Aitchison, 19, broke into a back door of Jordan Lobster Farms, at 1 Petit Place in Island Park, in the early hours of July 8. He took an unspecified amount of money from the cash register. He set off an alarm, alerting the owners, who notified police.

Officers found Aitchison in a locked fence area, arrested him, and returned the money at 12:55 a.m. He was charged with third degree burglary. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on July 8, where he was released on probation. His case will be heard again on Sept. 9.

“We appreciate the fine police work of the 4th Precinct,” said John Vitale, co-owner of Jordan Lobster Farms. “They responded immediately and were able to make an arrest at the scene... Shame to see a kid taking such a bad path in life.”
