Keeping cool at the Lynbrook park and pool

Residents take advantage of their local outdoor facilities during dog-days of summer

When the weather gets hot, Lynbrook residents opt for a cool pool.

As the hottest days of summer hit Long Island, there were plenty of ways to take advantage of the sunshine. The Lynbrook Municipal Pool is open up through Labor Day to village residents, and boasts three large pool areas including two bright yellow water slides.

Greis Park boasts a lush trail for runners and bikers called the Hudson Exercise Trail. The trail was built in 2010 on vacant land that was deeded to the Village of Lynbrook in 1989 by Nassau County, which had just obtained the land from the City of New York as part of the city’s effort to dispose of many unused parcels that it owned in the county. Prior to the The improvementsm included new landscaping, attractive lighting, seven exercise stations, benches, and an asphalt path that follows the original half-mile dirt path loop.

The Tony Lenzo Community Gardens is a beautfiul respite for those with green thumbs. Also located in Greis Park, it allows space to residents who don’t have room to grow their own gardens.
