U.S. Congressman Peter King sailed to an easy victory on Election Night, winning his 12the term in the House of Representatives. He will continue to represent the 2nd District.

He faced challengers in Democrat Patricia Maher and Green Party candidate William Stevenson. The district spans from King's hometown of Seaford to Sayville.

In Nassau County, with about three-quarters of election districts reporting, King had 78 percent of the vote. In Suffolk, with all numbers in, King picked up 63 percent. Click here for complete Nassau County election results.

King, a Republican, was first elected in 1992, in a district that then was entirely in Nassau County. He said Election Day represented a big win for Republicans in Nassau County and across the country.

“All the candidates we had, won or lost, ran a terrific race," he said. "Now we go to Washington and show how Republicans run government.”
