The Lakeview Public Library held a celebration on Thursday, Dec. 30, in honor of Kwanzaa — a weeklong celebration held in the United States honoring universal African-American heritage and culture, observed from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1.
There was a Talking Drums performance that featured Kobla Dente and his family, as well as the seven principles of Kwanza. A second Kwanzaa celebration, featuring a performance by the Sapphire Dance School, was scheduled for Jan. 5.
