Kopel is not looking to save

Posted

To the Editor:

Legislator Howard Kopel recently stated that the county should start a “slush fund” to make sure the county does not have to borrow money for cases that are lost. I thought we had a budget deficit. I thought that the reason the energy tax wasn’t repealed immediately, even though Republicans claim that is was repealed, was because we didn’t have the funds to close the budget gap.  These are hard economic times and he should be aware of these budget problems that face our county.

Democrats saved $29 million over five years when they were in power, because they didn’t hire outside counsel. Kopel supports the use of outside counsel, even though the latest lawsuit that outside counsel handled cost us $20 million.
