The Calhoun Lady Colts continued playing aggressive soccer last week with a hard-fought tie against cross-town rival Kennedy, and they posted a win against Elmont to bring their record to 3-0-1, before falling to Mepham 7-2 over the weekend.

On Sept. 22, the Lady Colts played Kennedy at Brookside, with the Colts jumping out to an early lead on a direct kick by Michelle Iacono. The game went back and forth as both teams tried to get through the defense and score. Kennedy scored twice before the end of the half and went into halftime with a one-goal lead. The pace was fast, with lots of action. Calhoun got the equalizer on a breakaway by Iacono, who was able to redirect her shot past the Kennedy keeper.

On Sept. 23, the Lady Colts played Elmont, which turned out to be a chance for all the Lady Colts to get in the game, as the Colts won 8-0. Scoring for the Colts were Kayla Cappuzzo (2), Taylor Schlussel (2), Augustina Miguel, Taylor Sipos, Mary Hijazi and Sarah Schuster. Alyssa Bataglia and Kacey Solotoff recorded the first shutout of the season.

The Colts will play Great Neck South today, and will finish the week on Oct. 1 against Carey.
