LBHS band performs at Hofstra festival

Representing the barrier island, the Long Beach High School Marching Band participated in Newsday’s annual Marching Band Festival, playing their own rendition of music by Steely Dan, David Matthews Band, The Dooby Brothers and the Winter Brothers, on Oct. 27. The band has been participating in the fall event, which was held at Hofstra University, for over 30 years. They prepare by attending special weekend rehearsals during the summer and evening rehearsals during the school year. The color guard also worked with a professional choreographer and donned new uniforms to step up their performance.
The entire festival will air on channel 14, Cabelvision’s MSG Varsity, on Thanksgiving Day.
