Community was there for the Rizzuto's

To the Editor:

I attended the wake and funeral Mass for Jay Rizzuto from Thursday through Saturday. As a childhood friend of Jay’s father, I was truly surprised and amazed at the outpouring of support and love by the Rockville Centre community. I wasn’t aware that this type of close-knit, tight community still existed in this day and age.

The wonderful people of Rockville Centre were there for the Rizzuto family from beginning to end. It can truly be said that they take care of their own. I can now take some comfort in knowing that this family, who I hold close to my heart, will have a great support system behind them going forward. You should be very proud, Rockville Centre!

Thank you, Adopt A Family volunteers

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Rockville Centre Adopt A Family Program, we would like to thank all of the volunteers who participated this past year. We have a special thank-you for Jeannine’s Boutique, which hosted a “day of shopping,” donating a generous portion of the proceeds to the Adopt A Family Program. In addition, we wish to thank Delicious Moments, which did a wonderful job preparing the dinners that were delivered by our volunteers on Christmas Eve.

We could not continue to run this program without all the people who volunteer to shop for gifts, make financial contributions, bake, cook and all the other components that make Adopt A Family a success year after year. We are very grateful to all of you.

Have a happy, healthy and safe New Year.
