Thank you,town voters

To the Editor:

The electoral process is at the core of our democratic way of government in the United States. From presidential elections all the way down to local government contests, the will of the people is central to our way of life. Accordingly, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in the Nov. 8 election. I am honored to have been re-elected to another term as Hempstead town supervisor and I am eager to embark upon new challenges and maintain key priorities over the next two years. Thank you!

The primary mission of Team Murray during the recent campaign was an extension of our governmental agenda. “Freezing taxes, helping people” was much more than a campaign slogan. It has been a call to action and a driving motivation for Councilwoman Angie Cullin, Councilmen James Darcy and Ed Ambrosino, Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin, Town Clerk Mark Bonilla and me. As we move forward during this term, we will continue our work to provide life-enhancing services at the lowest possible cost. We’re proud of our 2012 tax-freeze budget and are pleased to have earned the highest ratings available from Wall Street credit rating agencies. What’s more, we will support and promote reasonable development proposals that are creating jobs, stimulating the economy and adding new luster to the commercial corridors. At the same time, Team Murray is committed to a green-energy agenda that includes wind, solar, hydrogen and geothermal energy. And we are embarking on a $50 million job-boosting capital upgrade program that is funding repaved local roadways and upgraded infrastructure. In short, I am enthusiastic about incorporating the best of our past accomplishments and embracing the promise of the future.

As I work with residents across the town and public officials in our government, I will endeavor to enhance our local quality of life while demonstrating the highest regard for taxpayers in America’s largest township.

Again, thank you to all the members of the town’s family who participated in the Nov. 8 election.

Kate Murray

Hempstead Town Supervisor
