Baldwin library offering digital cards during pandemic

Posted

Fifty local libraries, including the Baldwin Public Library, are now offering digital library cards amid library closures due to the coronavirus pandemic. This new tool will allow residents of Nassau County who do not already have a card to utilize the digital resources of their library while facilities are closed.

Having access to library resources can be essential for people at all stages of their lives, especially during times of crisis. Since public libraries across the county are currently closed, a digital library card would enable people to explore the full complement of online library services from the comfort of their homes.

Readers can download the Libby app to borrow ebooks and audiobooks. Some libraries provide access to streaming entertainment apps like Kanopy or Hoopla that can be installed on smart TVs. Other resources include live homework help from tutor.com, interactive language learning from Pronunciator and current-issue popular magazines from RB Digital.

Residents with active library cards can visit their library’s website to discover the resources that are already available to them. Those who do not have a card can visit nassaulibrary.org/digital-card-application to get started.

Additionally, the Baldwin Public Library is offering online programs via Zoom, a video conferencing application. Zoom programs can be accessed by installing the app on your computer, smartphone or tablet or by calling in using a cell phone or landline.
