LIRR spokesman: No bomb at Merrick train station

Metropolitan Transportation Authority police rushed to the Merrick Long Island Rail Road station at 8:30 a.m. today after a note was found warning of a bomb threat there.

K-9 units swept through the station, checking for an explosive device. As it turned out, no bomb was found.

According to LIRR spokesman Sam Zambuto, MTA police are investigating. Service in and out of the station was unaffected by the incident.
