Long Beachers march in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Hundreds of Long Beach residents lined the streets with posters and banners in hand and marched in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. on Jan. 18. Onlookers and marchers welcomed the sun, which came out just as the late morning parade was being organized at Laurelton Boulevard at Park Avenue.

The parade was followed by a celebratory luncheon at the Long Beach Martin Luther King, Jr. Center on Riverside Boulevard that included a fundraising raffle. Those who attended the luncheon were treated to a number of inspiring speeches made by MLK Center Executive Director Myrnissa Stone, Pastor Isaac Milton of Christian Light Baptist Church and Nassau County Legislator Denise Ford (D-Long Beach). Two choirs and a dance troop also entertained the crowd.
