Long Beach Jazz Festival

Hear some swinging jazz when the Long Beach Jazz Festival returns to the City by the Sea, Sept. 20-23.

“It’s very gratifying that the public response has inspired us to keep producing this show. Now in our 10th year we continue grow and the music fan’s interest has unbelievably positive,” said producer and artistic director Steve Adelson.

“For our 10th anniversary, we are delighted to bring back some of our outstanding “alumni” from previous years,” Adelson said. This acclaimed roster of performers includes Chieli Minucci, from Special EFX; local Long Beach legend Dean Brown, from Primo; legendary harpist Edmar Castaneda, and the innovative guitarist Oz Noy. Bassist Bakithi Kumalo and Long Island blues favorite Kerry Kearney open the festival on Thursday evening at the Long Beach Public Library.

Events will be held Thursday and Friday nights, Sept. 20-21 and Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22-23, 11:30 a.m.-1 a.m., at various venues in Long Beach. All performances are free. For more information, visit www. longbeachjazzfest.com.
