A 1918 motorcycle club in Lynbrook?

In 1918, a motorcycle club opened on Waverly Avenue, near Scranton Avenue. 

R.P.  Domschke, the owner and a billiard champion, set up garage accommodations, billiard tables, lockers and showers. He hoped to attract riders from all over Long Island and New York City.

Proud to have shot a bald eagle in 1911

From the South Side Observer on Sept. 1, 1911: “While at his residence on Union Avenue Monday afternoon, J. Frank Steers shot and killed a young American eagle, measuring four feet from wingtip to wingtip.  Mr. Steers intends having the bird mounted.”
