Based on their exceptional vocal talents, Malverne High School’s Select Choir has been chosen to perform at Carnegie Hall to sing with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra on May 19.

To be chosen for this honor, the Select Choir sent in an audio recording of itself singing “The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy.” A few days later, the choir received an invitation to perform. Malverne was one of only five schools selected to perform at this event.

“We are honored to take part in this performance opportunity, and we know that our students will cherish the memories and friendships made from this,” director Ken Zagare said.

The choir will sing Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, a well-known choral and orchestral piece. Carmina Burana is an hour-long professional piece of choral literature, and Malverne will be working with select choirs from other Nassau County schools to prepare for this event.
