Former Malverne resident Thomas Carpino, whose parents, Tom and Kathy Carpino, run the Malverne Bible Church, was recently promoted from U.S. Air Force technical sergeant to master sergeant. The 30-year-old Valley Stream North graduate was presented with his stripes by Bomb Wing Commander Col. Mark Weatherington and Chief Master Sgt. Brian Lavoie at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, South Dakota. Carpino, who lives with his wife Pamela, will assume his new duties in July.
