The American Legion Malverne Post 44 held a Flag Day ceremony at the Chester A. Reese Memorial Park in Malverne on June 14.
Members of Post 44 awarded bonds and flag sets to the fourth- and fifth-grade students from local schools who won the Post’s annual Flag Day essay contest. This year, the contest’s theme was: “What The Flag Means To Me.”
Families of the veterans and the students came out to celebrate the event and Malverne Mayor Patricia McDonald was in attendance as well.
