Mangano leading in County Executive race

But thousands of paper ballots yet to count

No winner will be declared in the county executive race between Democratic incumbent Tom Suozzi and GOP challenger Ed Mangano for weeks.

Ed Mangano, the GOP challenger to incumbent Tom Suozzi, was beating the Glen Cove Democrat by hundreds of votes, in a recount of machine tallies. More than 7,000 paper absentee, emergency and affidavit ballots must still be counted.

The contest could go either way.
