Fire department wins fourth parade of 2009
The Valley Stream Fire Department won first place in the annual New York State Volunteer Firemen’s parade in Hicksville last Sunday afternoon. Valley Stream competed against more than 75 volunteer fire departments from Nassau and Suffolk counties, and upstate New York.
This is the fourth time this year that Valley Stream has come home with a first place trophy, having won the Southern New York Firemen’s Association parade, the Nassau County parade and the 3rd Battalion parade.
“This was a very proud day for the Valley Stream Fire Department, as winning four major parades in one year is a huge feat,” Chief Antonio Nuzzi said. “Eighty-seven members marching on one of the hottest days of the year only attests to their dedication and pride to the department.”
