McGeary plus Wilson equals young math scholars!

Peter Wilson and Kimberly McGeary were selected to attend free Saturday math classes at the Institute for Creative Problem Solving for Gifted and Talented Students at SUNY Old Westbury as Long Island Young Scholars of Mathematics.

Peter, a sixth-grade student at Centre Avenue Elementary School and Kimberly, a 7th-grader at East Rockaway Jr. High School, nominated last year by their Enterprise teacher, Michelle Healy (Enterprise is the district’s program for gifted children). They are currently attending the classes.

To qualify for this honor, 75 students, selected for the Institute’s three divisions each consisting of 25 participants, competed against 700 of the top ranking students nominated from school districts on Long Island. Selection by the institute implies that a student is among the top one-tenth of one percent in math of all students on Long Island in his or her grade.

It all adds up to a great opportunity for Peter and Kimberly!
