Mercy Ball set for Dec. 5

The Friends of Mercy Medical Center will hold its 73rd annual Mercy Ball on Dec. 5 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. The annual gala will support the recent acquisition of new digital mammography and other state of the art equipment for the hospital’s newly-renovated Women’s Imaging Center.

The chairman for the event for the second consecutive year is Dr. Marc DiSciullo, a long-time member of the hospital’s anesthesiology staff.

Richard D. Myatt of Rockville Centre, a long-time member of The Friends of Mercy Board of Sponsors who will receive The Bishop John R. McGann Lifetime Achievement Award, which is presented to a distinguished individual dedicated to volunteering time and effort in support of the center.

In addition, Dr. Robert Curran, a long-time member and current president of the medical staff at Mercy, will receive the Theodore Roosevelt Award for Outstanding Service, and Jeanette Jeager, Employee Services Coordinator in the hospital’s Human Resource Department will receive the Sister Mary Nadine Casey, COJ Award in recognition of her nearly 37 years of service.

One of the annual traditions at the ball is the Mercy Honor Guard, comprised of high school students who escort the Grand March of dignitaries into the ballroom preceded by a Color Guard from the United States Marine Corps, and are then presented to the bishop. Following the program, guests enjoy a sumptuous meal and dancing into the night.
