Denise Langweber, a Merrick real estate attorney, was appointed last month to the Francis X. Pendl Nassau County Firefighters Museum and Education Center’s Board of Directors.

The 10,000-square-foot Garden City museum offers live demonstrations of fire safety methods, interactive displays and historical fire apparatus. Since opening in 2006, the museum’s instructors and staff have escorted more than 100,000 people through active fires, from an alarm signal or emergency call to extinguishing the blaze. Exhibits track the development of firefighting equipment over the years and honor firefighters’ service and sacrifice.

Langweber, who has previously dealt in estate, business and matrimonial law and served as president of the Wantagh Chamber of Commerce, brings legal and business expertise to the board. She has served as counsel to the NYPD Sergeant’s Benevolent Association, a member of the First American Title Insurance Company of New York Advisory Board, a law guardian representing Nassau children in family and state court, and she has argued before the New York Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court. She now represents sellers, purchasers and lenders in real estate transactions.

“We are excited to welcome Denise to our board and are looking forward to tapping into her wealth of experience and wisdom in many matters, especially those related to the needs of the museum’s youngest visitors and non-profit operations,” said Alana Petrocelli, the museum’s executive director.
