Merrick hires search firm to seek new superintendent

Posted

The Merrick School District Board of Education has hired School Leadership, LLC, an executive search firm, to assist in the search for a superintendent to succeed Dr. Ranier Melucci, who announced in December that he will retire in June.

The first step in hiring a new superintendent is to gather information about what qualities and qualifications the community would like to see in the district’s top administrator. The Board of Education will hold a meeting next Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cub’s Cave at Norman J. Levy-Lakeside Elementary School to hear residents’ opinions, according to an announcement on the district’s website. School Leadership consultants will lead the session. Information about how the superintendent’s search will conducted will be offered, as well.

Additionally, residents may give their opinions in an online survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/merrick.

Melucci has served as the Merrick School District superintendent for the past nine years. He has been in the education field for more than 39 years.
