Merrick schools, building bridges and young minds

Posted

Sixth-grade APEX (Alternative Program for Enriching Experiences) students in the Merrick District recently completed their Architecture and Bridge Building unit under the direction of teacher Sherry Ma. Students formed construction companies and were challenged to build the strongest bridges possible. During the unit, students not only learned about the history and structural components of bridges, but also about maintaining an accurate accounting of their expenditures and being responsible for staying within a budget.
