Air Force Airman Sammy Williams graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Williams completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. He is the son of Samuel and Noreen Williams of Wyngate Drive East in Valley Stream and a 2007 graduate of Elmont Memorial High School.

Corey Parker of Valley Stream has been promoted to the rank of Private 1st Class. He serves with Company D in the 1-69th Infantry for the New York Army National Guard. Maj. Gen. Joseph J. Taluto, the adjutant general for New York, announced the promotion of members in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.

Sgt. Anthony Mills of Valley Stream has re-enlisted to continue service with the Headquarters Company, 1-69th Infantry, of the New York Army National Guard.
