Continuing its trend from 2015 of being showered in accolades, Molloy College has started 2016 by being named one of the safest college campuses in the country.

The website college.niche.com — which compiles information about colleges from experts as well as data directly from students — ranked Molloy the fourth safest college in New York and 13th nationally.

“We were pleased to learn that niche.com ranked Molloy as one of the safest campuses in the entire country, which is part of our commitment to our students,” said Dr. Drew Bogner, Molloy’s president. “Additionally, we have been fortunate to have received so many honors in the last couple of years — including being ranked as a best ‘value’ school by Money magazine and having a Georgetown University study highlight the starting salaries of Molloy grads as among the highest in the nation — and they all point to the fact that Molloy truly is a school on the move.”

The rankings compiled by Niche were based on factors such as campus crime rate, local crime rates and student reviews. They compiled date for 1,713 colleges across the country. They were able to grade 1,682 and rank 1,261.

Molloy was in good company on the list. In New York, Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester was ranked No. 1, followed by the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury and St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn. Nationally, Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah was ranked the safest.
