Molloy offers a look at a green economy

Peter Fusaro, chairman of Global Change Associates, and a New York Times best-selling author, was the featured speaker at a special conference hosted by Molloy College and its Sustainability Institute on March 12.

Entitled “The Green Economy: Promise and Potential,” the event, the 9th annual Joseph F. Maher Leadership Forum, also featured panel discussions with government and business leaders.

The Hon. Alfonse D’Amato, former U.S. Senator, and founder of Park Strategies, LLC; Kevin Law, president and CEO of the Long Island Power Authority; Richard Kessel, president and CEO of the New York Power Authority and the Hon. Steve Bellone, supervisor of the Town of Babylon were among the government representatives who participated in the first panel discussion,"Government policy that promotes green job creation" that was moderated by Neal Lewis, executive director of The Sustainability Institute at Molloy College.

Business leaders who participated in the panel discussion included Rockville Centre resident John Cameron, managing partner of Cameron Engineering; Ross D. Ain, president of Caithness Long Island and

John Durso, president of Local 338 RWDSU/UFCW.

The half-day seminar was designed to help clarify the meaning of “green jobs” and to define related specifics including where the jobs are, how government policy can help create them, and what special skills are

needed.

Over 300 people attended the event, which was followed by a networking reception.
