A North Bellmore man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated this past weekend, according to New York state police. Andrew Marsh, 22, was driving westbound on the Long Island Expressway and merged onto the Seaford-Oyster Bay Express (Route 135) south. While traveling on 135, Marsh lost control of his vehicle and collided with the guardrail on the thoroughfare’s right shoulder.

A state trooper arrived at the crash site and noticed damage to the front and rear ends of Marsh’s vehicle. The officer interviewed Marsh and spotted a beer bottle and a marijuana pipe inside the car, officials said. The officer also noticed Marsh’s bloodshot and watery eyes and smelled alcohol on his breath.

Marsh failed sobriety tests and was found to have a blood alcohol content of .17, more than twice the legal limit, according to authorities. Six lorazepam pills were also found inside the vehicle. Marsh was arrested for DWI, criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and traffic violations.
