Island Park Village Trustee Irene Filkowski Naudus was re-elected to a second term, and Barbara Volpe-Ried was elected to the seat that will be vacated by Trustee and Deputy Mayor Steve D’Esposito, in village elections March 15. Both women ran unopposed. Volpe-Reid received 222 votes, and Naudus, 212.

At a gathering to celebrate the election wins, Mayor Michael McGinty said, “I could not be personally or professionally happier, and I am looking forward to the good things to come. [Barbara’s and Irene’s] work ethic over the years have made [Island Park] a better place, and I am incredibly proud to serve with [them].”

McGinty also named D’Esposito Deputy Mayor Emeritus, praising him for his 25 years of service to the village. D’Esposito is leaving to become Town of Hempstead Chief of Staff.
