Rockville Centre Cadette Girl Scout Troop 860 ran a Food Drive for Island Harvest on Sept. 20 at King Kullen on Sunrise Highway. The girls collected over 400 pounds of food for an Island Harvest Member Agency, St. Paul AME Church in Rockville Centre, which is starting a food pantry for distribution to Rockville Centre residents.

The girls will earn Community Service hours for their participation. Members of the troop say they’re thankful and appreciative of all who contributed food. They also observed that people were very generous in spite of the current economic climate.

The girls in the group picture are, from left, Kaitlyn Rosenbaum, Catherine Dunne, Amy Blair, Samantha Dickmann and Nicole Giammarino. The two girls in the photo with the boxes of food collected are Nicole Giammarino in front with Samantha Dickmann and co-troop leader Lori Dunne in the background.
