Brian Joesten has been installed as the 2010 President of The Friends of Mercy Medical Center. The long-time Rockville Centre resident accepted a small bust of Theodore Roosevelt that signifies leadership of the organization in a Jan. 27 ceremony at the Hempstead Golf and Country Club.

Joesten, a business manager with Verizon Communications, has been a fervent supporter of Mercy Medical Center and served as vice president of The Friends in 2009. He has been a member of the group since 2005, was nominated to its executive board in 2007, served on numerous committees, and co-chaired The Friends Annual Golf Classic in 2008 and the group’s St. Patrick’s Gentlemen’s Dinner in 2009.

An active member of the St. Agnes Cathedral parish for the past 14 years, Joesten has served many times on both the parish party and gala committees. With a particular interest in Catholic education, he was President of the St. Agnes Father’s Club from 1999-2000, and re-established and served as president of the Sacred Heart Academy’s Father’s Club from 2005-2008.
