The Long Island Philharmonic performed to the delight of many on Friday, Aug. 12 at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park. This destination performance was attune since the Long Island Philharmonic was founded by folk singer Harry Chapin himself in 1979.

Representing East Meadow, W. T. Clarke High School senior Sarah Shaiman sang the National Anthem before the show began. Shaiman is a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society, an international music honor society for middle and high school students, and in school drama club. This summer she was also selected into a four-week Pre-College Summer Program for musical theater at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and just recently returned from her studies.
