Now, a story on the speeding in Atlantic Beach?

I read “Where 5 have died, plans for a stoplight,” in last week’s Herald, about the planned installation of a traffic light at Edward Avenue in Woodmere. I agree, and I am sure it will decrease accidents.

Another issue I would appreciate your shining some light on is the constant speeding on Park Street in Atlantic Beach. This subject is brought up monthly at our village meeting, petitions have circulated and letters have been sent to the 4th Precinct and local leaders. But nothing is done.

Police from the precinct are often parked in the area, yet only three to five speeding tickets are given monthly (as reported at the monthly meetings). The speed limit is 25 mph, and heavy trucks drive at 50 mph plus.
